Everything You Need to Know About the new COC Update March 2026

Alright Chiefs, this isn’t one of those tiny balance patches that quietly slips into the game. The latest update brings two major shifts that affect nearly every active player:

✔ A full Gold Pass overhaul
✔ The long-discussed Ore Bug exploit fix

Both of these have been hot topics in the community, so let’s break everything down properly.

Let’s be honest for a second.

The old Gold Pass worked fine, but after years of the same layout, same challenge rhythm, and same progression feel… it started feeling stale. Functional, yes. Exciting? Not really.

This update completely revamps how the Gold Pass looks and how you progress through it.

First thing you’ll notice – the Gold Pass screen looks very different.

The layout is now:

• Full-screen
• Cleaner and less cluttered
• Larger reward icons
• Easier to visually track progression

This might sound like a cosmetic change, but UI affects experience more than people realize. Unlocking rewards now actually feels smoother instead of like scrolling through a cramped menu.

This is where things get interesting.

Instead of the older challenge-style objectives, we now have Daily Tasks.

Here’s how it works:

• 8 tasks available every day
• Tasks are simple, predictable, and gameplay-focused
• No weird surprise challenges
• No stressful “must finish before reset” panic

Complete tasks → Earn stamps
Fill Stamp Card → Earn Season Points

The stacking mechanic is a huge quality-of-life win. Miss a day? No disaster. Your Stamp Cards accumulate, meaning casual players aren’t punished for not logging in daily like clockwork.

Gold Pass holders also benefit from bonus points, especially toward the end of the season where progression speeds up.

This might be the most exciting additionChoice Nodes.

Along the Gold Pass track, you’ll now encounter reward checkpoints where instead of getting a fixed item, you get to choose between two different rewards.

For example:

▶ Two Hero skins, either the current season’s skin or a returning classic

▶A Rune of Gold or a Rune of Elixir (yes… twice!)

▶A Book of Fighting or a Book of Spells (also… twice!)

This gives players a lot more control and strategy when they’re progressing through the pass. Instead of being stuck with a reward that doesn’t fit your progression path, you get to choose what’s actually useful for you.

If you forget to claim a Choice Node before the season ends? The game auto-selects the default option or converts it to gems if your inventory is full.

Yes, the Piggy Bank we’ve all known for ages has been revamped and renamed the Hoggy Bank.

Here’s how it works now:

• It starts at max size from day one, no more upgrading the size
• Gold Pass holders get a 5× payout bonus when they cash it in at the end of the season
• The Hoggy Bank scales with your Town Hall level, so higher TH players can earn way bigger payouts, while lower TH players get fairer amounts for their stage of play
• Both regular resources and Builder Base resources scale

Silver track players can earn up to:

  • 8M Gold and Elixir
  • 2M Builder Gold and Builder Elixir

Gold Pass players can earn up to:

  • 40M Gold and Elixir
  • 10M Builder Gold and Builder Elixir

This means the Hoggy Bank feels more rewarding across the board and less confusing than the old Piggy Bank progression.

Another huge change: Silver Track players now get Chests throughout progression.

These chests replace a lot of the potion rewards that used to be guaranteed. But chests are randomized, and that randomness can be a good thing, you might get amazing loot like Ores or cosmetic rewards, or you might get other bonuses.

The idea here is to make even the free track feel exciting and unpredictable, a chance to score something big without paying.

This has caused mixed reactions from the community, some folks love the surprise factor, others miss the guaranteed predictability. But overall it adds a fun gambling-style element to progression for everyone.

One of the coolest additions is the Prospector.

Unlocked after reaching 2400 Season Point milestone, this helper, Converts ores into other ore types and the ore conversion statistics are :

• Shiny Ore – 2000
• Glowy Ore – 120
• Starry Ore – 2

It’s one of those features that doesn’t scream for attention but becomes incredibly useful over time. Anything that improves resource flexibility without adding grind is a welcome change.

The Gold Pass rework also includes:

1-Gem self donations – you can now donate troops/spells to yourself instantly for 1 gem per item
Instant use of reward items when inventory is full instead of automatic selling
More Shovels of Obstacles – up to 3 in the reward track

These are small, but super appreciated by players who manage base layouts, farm builds, or war prep regularly.

Players are largely excited about the update, but several concerns keep popping up:

20% Builder & Research Boosts – Many want these perks available immediately or earlier, as they’re a primary reason for buying the Gold Pass.

Prospector Accessibility – Locking a new mechanic behind the pass feels harsh to some. Common suggestions include making it free with limited use, unlockable via gems, or available earlier, with Gold Pass boosting efficiency.

Builder Boost Reduction – Some players feel this change reduces Gold Pass value and may affect monthly purchases.

Progression Speed – Daily Stamp Cards are appreciated, but players want an additional way to grind faster through the pass.

Perk Unlock Timing – Strong preference for earlier access to key boosts rather than waiting weeks.

Silver Track Chests – Requests for better balance: choose-one rewards, guaranteed tiers, and removal of lower-value items from high-tier chests.

Overall sentiment: players like the new systems, but perk timing, progression speed, and fairness are the biggest discussion points.

Now let’s talk about the other major part of this patch, the Ore Bug exploit fix.

This bug has been a persistent issue where players could earn Ore amounts far beyond intended progression due to a glitch with revenge attacks. It skewed the Ore economy and made progression less predictable.

Supercell has now implemented a permanent fix that:

✔ Stops the exploit completely
✔ Restores the intended Ore progression balance
✔ Adjusts any inflated Ore counts programmers determine were gained unfairly

That last point has been controversial, some players might see their Ore go down compared to what they’d stockpiled using the bug. In rare extreme cases, balances could go negative if too much was gained improperly.

This was done to protect the long-term health of the game’s resource economy, even though it might sting some players in the short term.

What’s your take, Chiefs?

Do you like the new Gold Pass system?
Did the Ore Bug fix feel fair?
Does progression feel better now?
